Mission-Critical AV
Command & Control AV for Defense, Aerospace and Network Operations
Network operations centers, war rooms, secure conference rooms and briefing rooms for Department of Defense, aerospace and government contractor facilities. Firebird AV has completed projects on Vandenberg Space Force Base and other military installations, with specialized Crestron programming written in house and documented to the standard those environments require.
Capabilities
What's included
Network operations centers
Video walls fed by dozens of sources over Crestron NVX, operator positions with their own routing, and presets that put the right feeds in front of the right people in one press.
War rooms & situation rooms
Secure, reconfigurable rooms where a single control surface switches displays, audio, conferencing, lighting and shades between modes, and every action is logged.
Secure conference & briefing rooms
Rooms that run unclassified and secure sessions on separate, physically isolated paths, with controls that make the wrong connection impossible.
Specialized Crestron programming
Custom control logic written and maintained in house: source-routing rules, mode switching, user permissions, fail-safe states and audit logging, documented line by line.
Secure networks for AV
AV over IP designed on segmented networks that meet the facility's security policy, coordinated with the facility's IT and security officers on every connection.
Installation on military bases
We have completed projects on Vandenberg Space Force Base and other military installations, and we know the access, escort, documentation and coordination that work on a base involves.
Documentation and handover
Drawings, network maps, source lists, code and credentials delivered to the facility, so the system can be audited, maintained and changed by the people responsible for it.

Our approach
The room is only as good as its control code.
A command-and-control room is not a conference room with more screens. The hard part is the logic underneath: which sources may reach which displays, what happens when an operator changes modes mid-session, what the room does when a device drops off, and how to prove afterward who routed what and when. That is a programming problem, and it is the part most integrators subcontract out.
We write it ourselves. Firebird is a Crestron Elite Pro dealer with in-house Crestron programming, so the engineer who designs the room writes its code, commissions it on site, documents it, and is the one who answers when the mission changes. There is no third-party programmer to chase and no undocumented logic sitting in a processor nobody can read.
We also design for the realities of the environment: equipment chosen from approved lists where required, AV networks segmented and isolated to the facility's policy, rack and cable work that passes inspection, and a documentation set that a security officer can review. Projects on Vandenberg Space Force Base and other military installations have taught us how base access, escorts and coordination work, and we plan for them from the first site walk.
Questions
Command and control, answered.
What is a network operations center AV system?
A NOC AV system is the video wall, source routing, operator displays and control layer that let a team watch many feeds at once and act on them. Firebird builds NOCs on Crestron NVX video over IP so any source can reach any display or wall region, with Crestron programming that stores layouts as presets, lets operators pull a feed to their position, and keeps the wall running if a single source or encoder fails.
What does a war room or situation room need?
A war room needs displays and audio that reconfigure instantly for the session at hand, conferencing that can be joined or isolated with one action, lighting and shades tied to the same control surface, and a record of what the room did. We program the modes in advance (briefing, monitoring, secure session, maintenance) so the room changes with one press instead of a sequence of steps someone has to remember under pressure.
Can you build secure conference rooms for classified and unclassified use?
Yes. We design rooms where secure and unclassified sessions run on separate, physically isolated signal and network paths, with control programming that enforces which sources and endpoints are available in each mode and makes the wrong connection impossible rather than merely discouraged. Specific security requirements are set by the facility; we build to its policy and work with its security officers on every connection.
Have you worked on military bases?
Yes. Firebird AV has completed projects on Vandenberg Space Force Base and other military installations. That experience covers the practical side of base work: access and escort coordination, scheduling around operations, equipment and documentation requirements, and inspections, as well as the technical side of secure AV.
Why does specialized Crestron programming matter here?
Because off-the-shelf room control assumes a conference room. Command-and-control rooms need rules: who can route what, what each mode allows, what the fail-safe state is, and what gets logged. Firebird writes that logic in house as a Crestron Elite Pro dealer, documents it, and keeps it maintainable, so the facility is never dependent on a programmer who has moved on.
Who do you work with on these projects?
Department of Defense facilities, aerospace companies and their contractors, government agencies, and the general contractors and engineering firms building or renovating their spaces. We work from Santa Barbara and cover Vandenberg, the Central Coast and Southern California, and we travel for the right project.
What does a project look like?
It starts with a site walk and a requirements session with the operators, IT and security. Then design drawings, a bill of materials against any approved-product requirements, an itemized proposal with exclusions stated plainly, installation scheduled around operations, commissioning and operator training on site, and a full documentation and code handover. Firebird AV is licensed by the California CSLB (1108192) and has served the Central Coast since 2010.
How we work
Engineered, not assembled.
- 01 Consult We learn how you actually live in the space.
- 02 Engineer The system is designed on paper before anything is ordered.
- 03 Pre-wire Clean, labeled runs coordinated before the drywall.
- 04 Install Equipment racked and mounted, documented as we go.
- 05 Calibrate We measure the room and tune the system to it.
- 06 Steward You own the documentation, the codes, and our accountability.
Questions
Mission-Critical AV: common questions
Do you build AV for network operations centers and war rooms?+
Yes. Network operations centers, war rooms and situation rooms, and secure conference rooms are a Firebird AV specialty: video walls, multi-source routing, one-touch presets, and controls built for people who cannot stop to troubleshoot.
Can your team work on a military base?+
Yes. Firebird AV has completed projects on Vandenberg Space Force Base and other military installations, so our team is used to base access procedures, escorts, and documentation requirements. Ask us about the specifics of your facility.
Do you program Crestron yourselves or subcontract it?+
We write Crestron programming in house. In a NOC or war room the control code is the room, so source routing, video wall layouts, secure and unsecured modes, and failover behavior are built to the operator's procedures and kept by the people who wrote them.
Can you upgrade a command center that already has a Crestron system?+
Yes. We take over and modernize existing Crestron rooms, keep what still works, replace what does not, and hand back full documentation, labeled infrastructure, and as-built drawings with the client holding the credentials.
